Movement Disorders (MovED)
MovED is a 2-day course being developed by Consultant Paediatric Neurologists and Paediatricians in Neurodisability. The first course is due to take place in October 2023. This course aims to cover a broad spectrum of movement disorders that are seen in children and will place emphasis on description, diagnosis and initial management of these conditions.
Unusual movements in children can sometimes be difficult to describe and categorise. The course will cover:
- Chorea and myoclonus
- Stereotypies and tics
- Functional movement disorders
- Acute presentations of movement disorders
The course has been developed for clinicians who are developing an interest and expertise in Paediatric Movement Disorders including:
- Consultant Paediatricians
- Speciality Doctors
- Trainees in Neurology, Neurodisability and/or Community Child Health
The course material will include illustrative cases and videos and use a mixture of lectures and workshops to encourage discussion.
The course has been developed by a faculty of 10, comprising Paediatric Neurologists and Paediatricians in Neurodisability. It will run as a stand alone course, but will develop themes from the ACT course (Approaching Children’s Tone).
